Split shifts and late closings, recorded without a sheet by the till
Each person taps Start work and Finish work on their own phone. You see who is working, fix a forgotten tap properly, and have the month ready for an inspector or your gestoría.
In short
A restaurant must record when each employee starts and finishes work every day, split shifts included, and keep the record for four years. A sheet signed at the end of the week, filled in from memory, is exactly what an inspector questions.
With Tiemio each person taps Start work, Pause, Resume and Finish work on their own phone, the moment it happens. A forgotten tap is fixed with a correction you approve, the original stays visible, and the signed monthly timesheet is one download away.
A day with two services
10:00
The cook arrives and taps Start work
On their own phone: in the app, with or without signal, or on the website. No tablet at the door, no sheet to sign. A tap made without signal is saved on the phone and sent when the connection returns, at the time it was made.
16:30
Pause between lunch and dinner
The break is recorded as a break, so the day shows two work periods instead of one long day that was never really worked.
20:00
Resume for dinner; you check who is in
On your phone, the team view shows who is working, who is on a break and since when, with each person's hours today and this month.
00:40
Closing time, and someone forgot to tap Finish work
It happens. The next morning the app shows the shift still open: the cook says when they finished, with a reason, and you approve it. The record shows the original taps and the corrected time, side by side.
End of the month
The timesheets are ready
Download each person's month as a signed PDF, or the whole team's at once, and the spreadsheet for your gestoría's payroll.

What matters in a restaurant
One tap, on their own phone
Start work, Pause, Resume and Finish work: in the app, with or without signal, or on the website. Nobody queues at a terminal at the start of a shift.
A forgotten Finish work, fixed properly
The employee asks for a correction with the reason and you approve or refuse it; you can also propose one and they accept it. The original taps always stay in the record.
The month, ready for an inspector or your gestoría
A PDF per person with each day's start, finish and breaks, carrying a fingerprint anyone can check at tiemio.com/verify, and a spreadsheet for payroll.
What the law asks of a restaurant
The same as of any employer in Spain, from the first employee.
- each employee's start and finish
- Every day
- each employee's start and finish
- kept, and shown on request
- 4 years
- kept, and shown on request
- of rest between working days
- 12 hours

- the fine for no record, or a wrong one
- €751–€7,500
- the fine for no record, or a wrong one
The record shows the time each employee starts and finishes work, every day. It is kept for four years and available to the employees, their representatives and the Labour Inspectorate (article 34.9 of the Workers' Statute). Not keeping it, or keeping it wrongly, is a serious infringement.
In hospitality the long days are where questions start: overtime, part-time hours, and the twelve hours of rest the law requires between the end of one working day and the start of the next (article 34.3).
Key point
A record made on the day, with breaks, is what lets you answer those questions. A sheet filled in at the end of the week cannot.
Checked against the law in force on 24 October 2026. This page explains the rules; it is not legal advice.
All the questions about the working-time recordWho must record, what, for how long, the fines, and the digital record that is coming.Questions
Does every employee need their own phone?
Yes. Each person records their time on their own phone, in the iPhone or Android app or on the website. Tiemio has no shared tablet at the door.
What about a shift that ends after midnight?
It is recorded as it happened: one shift, started before midnight and finished after. The calendar counts the hours before midnight on the first day and the rest on the next.
Can an employee who also works in another bar use Tiemio there too?
Yes. One person can work for several employers in the same app, for one at a time. Each employer sees only the time worked for them.
Does Tiemio track where my staff are?
No. Tiemio records when people start and finish, never where they are.
Does Tiemio plan the rota?
No. Tiemio records the time actually worked. You can set each job's working hours, and time outside them is marked in the app, but it does not plan shifts.
