For households that employ someone
Your employee's hours at home, recorded without paperwork.
One employer, one employee, no HR department and often no gestoría. Your employee taps on their phone as they arrive and leave; the month is kept, signed and ready if anyone ever asks.
In short
Households that employ a cleaner, a carer, a nanny or a gardener are under a special regime for domestic service, which does not mention a daily time record. But the EU Court of Justice ruled in December 2024 that domestic employers must have a system that measures each day's working time, as other employers do, and Spanish courts have ruled both ways since. Keeping the record is the safe choice, and it protects you as much as your employee if the hours are ever disputed.
In Tiemio your employee taps Start work and Finish work on their own phone. You see the day on yours, fix a forgotten tap together, and at the end of the month you both sign the timesheet in the app. No hardware, nothing to fill in by hand.
A working day at home
09:00
She arrives and taps
Rosa looks after your mother on weekday mornings. She taps Start work on her phone as she comes in; you see it on yours, even from the office.
11:30
A break, recorded as one
She taps Pause for a coffee and Resume when she is back. The day shows the time worked and the break, without anyone writing anything down.
14:00
She leaves, and the day is kept
She taps Finish work. The day's start, finish and hours are recorded at the time, and kept as they were made: neither of you can quietly change them later.
Thursday
A forgotten tap
She left in a hurry and forgot to finish. She asks for a correction from her phone with the real time and a reason, and you approve it. The original tap stays, with the correction beside it.
End of month
The month, signed by both of you
In Records, Sign and send the month. Rosa reads each day and the total and signs in the app, or says why she does not agree. Download the PDF for your records or for whoever does the payslip.

What a household needs from the record
One tap, on their own phone
Start, pause, resume and finish with one tap. No clock on the wall, no sheet on the fridge: the phone your employee already carries is the clock, and you see each day on yours.
The month, signed by both of you
Send the month for signature in the app: your employee signs, or signs as not agreeing with a reason, and every answer is kept with the month. The PDF shows both signatures, ready for your records or your gestoría.

What the law asks of a household
Domestic service has its own rules. The daily record is where they are least clear.

Someone you employ at home to clean, cook, look after a relative or the children, tend the garden or drive is in the special relationship of domestic service (article 2.1.b of the Workers' Statute, Royal Decree 1620/2011). The decree sets the working week at up to 40 hours of effective work, with any presence time agreed apart, and at least 12 hours' rest between working days (article 9). It says nothing about a daily record, except to exempt part-time domestic contracts from the extra recording duties of part-time work. For everything else, the common labour rules apply where they fit the relationship (article 3).
The common rule is article 34.9 of the Workers' Statute: every employer keeps a daily record of each person's start and finish times, with no exception for households. In the Loredas case (C-531/23, 19 December 2024), the EU Court of Justice held that exempting domestic employers from a system that measures each worker's daily working time does not comply with the Working Time Directive; the rules may adapt it for overtime and part-time work, without emptying it. Spanish courts have ruled both ways since. If the same person works for a business instead, a gardener at a holiday rental for example, it is a standard contract and the daily record applies in full.
Key point
Whatever the courts settle, a record your employee signs each month is the clearest proof of the hours, for both of you.
Checked against the law in force on 28 October 2026. This page explains the rules; it is not legal advice.
All the questions about the working-time recordWho must record, what, for how long, the fines, and the digital record that is coming.Questions
Do I have to record the hours of my domestic employee?
Spanish domestic-service rules do not say so expressly, but the general rule for every employer has no exception for households, and the EU Court of Justice ruled in December 2024 that domestic employers must have a system that measures daily working time. Courts have ruled both ways since, so keeping the record is the safe choice.
Is it different for part-time domestic employees?
The domestic-service decree exempts part-time contracts from the extra recording duties of part-time work, and the EU court accepted that the rules may adapt for part-time work. Recording the days still costs one tap, and it is the simplest proof of the hours actually worked.
Does Tiemio separate presence time from working time?
No. Tiemio records when the working day starts, pauses and finishes. Presence time, such as a live-in employee being available, is agreed between you and paid or compensated apart; the record shows the day as tapped.
Can I use Tiemio as a private person, without a company?
Yes. When you sign up, choose that you employ people and give your household's name; a tax ID is optional. Then invite your employee with a code, and they join from their own phone.
Does Tiemio do the payslip or Social Security?
No. Tiemio keeps the hours: each day, each month's total, and the signed timesheet. The payslip and Social Security stay with you or your gestoría, who can work from the monthly PDF or spreadsheet.
